Walk & Talk therapy

Research shows that both physical movement and time in nature offer significant benefits for mental health, including boosting mood, lowering stress, enhancing regulation, and fostering confidence.

In fact, a 2021 study in the Canadian Journal of Psychiatry also showed that walking psychotherapy sessions led to participants feeling "invigorated," more motivated to engage in physical activity, and experienced greater "ease" in expressing themselves throughout the session.

As a result, outdoor sessions provide a unique opportunity to enrich therapeutic resources through incorporating resources such as connection with nature, movement, and bilateral stimulation

Please note that only select clinicians offer Walk & Talk sessions at our clinic. Please contact hello@fresh-insight.ca to inquire.

Wise Walking practices

  • Outdoor sessions are available for individuals aged 16+ who are able to walk comfortably at a moderate pace for at least 60 minutes.

  • Please bring a water bottle and hat, apply sunscreen before your session, and wear comfortable clothing and footwear to ensure a comfortable experience. If you experience allergies be sure to bring your cell phone and epi pen to ensure your safety.

  • Your clinician will discuss risks surrounding confidentiality before your session, including how to respond to situations where someone may recognize you during your walk. Your informed consent is important to us, and we'll always make sure you're thoroughly informed before engaging in any modality.
